Integrative Oncology: Slovak Contribution to International Dialogue

Where Science Becomes Art, Treatment Emerges as Its Masterpiece
As part of an international initiative to raise awareness of cancer research, the Cancer Research Foundation joined the World Cancer Research Day with the conference Where Science Becomes Art, Treatment Emerges as Its Masterpiece.
The Round-Table Discussion as a satellite event of the conference emphasized the importance of an integrative approach to oncology, with special focus on prehabilitation and rehabilitation as essential elements of patient care. It also underlined the active role of patients in decision-making, both in treatment and research.
At a roundtable hosted by the Biomedical Research Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, international experts, national oncology leaders, and patient representatives discussed how to transfer successful practices from abroad into Slovak care pathways.
The discussions also highlighted the important role of establishing and accrediting a Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) in Slovakia, which would enhance the quality of care and NOI to serve as a national hub for the Cancer Mission.
Last but not least, an equally important topic was the emphasis on the role of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in cancer research, particularly in addressing patients’ quality of life, alongside prehabilitation, rehabilitation, and patient engagement.
The Foundation remains committed to promoting multidisciplinarity, prevention, and patient participation as essential elements for improving cancer care in Slovakia.
NIE JE TO MIMO NÁS – It’s Not Beyond Us.
