About

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The Slovak Cancer Research Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in 1993. Members of the Supervisory Board are scientific employees from the field of oncology research, led by the Foundation President, RNDr. Margita Klobušická, CSc. The main objective of our foundation is to support and promote research in order to make neoplastic diseases treatable once again and to gain acceptance from the general, as well as the professional public for oncology science and research as integral part of the battle against cancer.
The foundation is closely cooperating with the Experimental Oncology Institute of the Biomedicine Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and key clinical oncology organisations (National Oncology Institute, St. Elisabeth Oncology Institute, as well as institutes outside Bratislava), as the development of clinically focused, so-called translational research, is among its objectives. One of the ways of supporting this significant objective is the introduction of modern equipment techniques for the diagnostics of neoplastic diseases on a molecular level.
The successes of the foundation so far include for example public rallies that helped collect money to buy important and often unique equipment for the Experimental Oncology Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences amounting worth more than EUR 1.5 Million.

Finančne najnáročnejšie prístroje

Prietokový cytometer umožňuje včasnú a najmä presnú diagnostiku krvných nádorových ochorení, leukémií a lymfómov.

Pulzná elektroforéza umožňuje monitorovať stav chromozómov a stanoviť stupeň poškodenia DNA a genetickej stability.

Laserový disekčný mikroskop pomáha prepojiť štandardnú diagnostiku nádorov pomocou svetelného mikroskopu  s novými molekulárno-genetickými technikami a poznatkami.

Týmto prístrojom sa zabezpečí veľmi kvalitný a hlavne rýchly skríning mutácií u dedičných foriem rakoviny prsníka, vaječníkov, hrubého čreva a štítnej žľazy v rámci celého Slovenska.

Nukleofektor umožňuje vysoko účinné, šetrné a bezpečné vnesenie terapeutickej DNA (prenos špecifických génov) priamo do jadra pacientských buniek.

Preto rozpoznanie „reči“ buniek by umožnilo pochopiť prečo nádorové bunky v niektorých prípadoch dokážu ovládnuť okolité bunky prostredia a vytvoria metastázy do vzdialených častí tela.

NanoSight – nanotechnológia v službách výskumu a včasnej diagnostiky rakoviny. Prístroj umožňuje skúmať “dorozumievanie” buniek a pomôže pri vývoji nových diagnostických metód pri onkologických ochoreniach. Poskytuje unikátnu kombináciu spoľahlivých overených mnoho-parametrových analýz v jednom prístroji, čím patrí medzi najvšestrannejšie zariadenie pre zobrazenie, meranie a charakterizáciu všetkých typov nanočastíc.

Kryostat a mikrotom umožňuje tvorbu rýchlych rezov zo zmrazených tkanív a ponúka informáciu o stave a štruktúre tkaniva, pričom zmrazené tkanivo zostáva nezmenené dlhý čas.
